Subadditive Ergodic Theorems
Above is the famous Fekete’s lemma which demonstrates that the ratio of subadditive sequence (an) to n tends to a limit as n approaches infinity. This lemma is quite crucial in the field of subadditive ergodic theorems because it gives mathematicians some general ideas and guidelines in the non-random setting and leads to analogous discovery in the random setting. Kingman’s Subadditive Ergodic ...
متن کاملSharp ergodic theorems for group actions and strong ergodicity
Let μ be a probability measure on a locally compact group G, and suppose G acts measurably on a probability measure space (X,m), preserving the measure m. We study ergodic theoretic properties of the action along μ-i.i.d. random walks on G. It is shown that under a (necessary) spectral assumption on the μ-averaging operator on L2(X,m), almost surely the mean and the pointwise (Kakutani’s) rando...
متن کاملBorsuk-ulam Type Theorems for Compact Lie Group Actions
Borsuk-Ulam type theorems for arbitrary compact Lie group actions are proven. The transfer plays a major role in this approach. We present Borsuk-Ulam type theorems for arbitrary compact Lie group actions. The essence of our approach is a generalization of the ideal-valued index of FadellHusseini [FH88] using transfer [Boa66], [BG75], [Dol76], [KP72], [Rou71]. Once an appropriate concept (Defin...
متن کاملLinear Repetitivity, I. Uniform Subadditive Ergodic Theorems and Applications
This paper is concerned with the concept of linear repetitivity in the theory of tilings. We prove a general uniform subadditive ergodic theorem for linearly repetitive tilings. This theorem unifies and extends various known (sub)additive ergodic theorems on tilings. The results of this paper can be applied in the study of both random operators and lattice gas models on tilings.
متن کاملGroup Actions, p-Groups, and the Sylow Theorems
In this note we introduce the notion of a group action on a set and use it to prove a number of theorems about p-groups and the Sylow theorems. For undefined terms see any decent book on group theory. The theory of p-groups and the Sylow theorems have a number of applications in Galoistheory. The nice structure of p-groups will translate via the fundamental theorem of Galois theory to nice stru...
